Tumbes

The department of Tumbes is located in the north-western part of the country. Is bordered on the north by Ecuador and the Pacific Ocean; on the east by Ecuador; on the south by Piura; and on the west by the Pacific Ocean.

The climate of Tumbes is semi tropical with permanent sun almost all year round, with an average temperature of 24ºC.

Tumbes has a territorial surface of 4,669 Km2 including 12 km2 of oceanic island. It has three provinces: Tumbes, Zarumilla and Contralmirante Villar.

The main agricultural products of Tumbes are tobacco, rice, cotton, banana, sweet potato and fruit trees. It has cattle and goats. Its main mining resources are oil and gas. It also has deposits of non-metallic minerals such as coal, bentonite, salt, gypsum and alum (sulfates).

The main attractions of the department of Tumbes are its beautiful beaches where summer by summer tourists come to enjoy them, its forests and mangroves. In the city of Tumbes you will find hotels, taxi services, banks, mobility to all tourist places.

TOURIST PLACES IN TUMBES

Pizarro Port

Puerto Pizarro is a beach located 13 kilometers from the city of Tumbes. It has a small group of fishermen and extractors of black shells. Because the waters of Puerto Pizarro are shallow, they facilitate skiing and boat rides. In Puerto Pizarro there are guided tours to the national sanctuary, the Tumbes Mangroves, Love Island, Whale Bone and Birds Island.

The Island of Love

Isla del Amor is located in front of Puerto Pizarro, it is a quiet place. In this island in summer is full of campers who come to enjoy the tranquility of the sea. The Island of Love is so called because many newlyweds come to spend their honeymoon.

Caleta de Cruz Pizarro

It is the place where Don Francisco Pizarro began the conquest of Peru. It shows a replica of the cross he planted in 1532.

Punta Sal

It is the most elegant and beautiful tumbesina beach, this place is ideal for water sports, horseback riding and rest.

The cove of Zorritos

This is where South America’s first oil well was drilled. What is attractive in this beach are the great marine riches as: the sole, corvina, sea bass; the artisan fishing dock, the lighthouse and the malecón.

Green Waters

It is the city in full border line, from where the commercial exchange between Peru and Ecuador takes place.

The Cabeza de Vaca Architectural Complex

Located in the district of Corrales. In addition, the pre-Columbian remains of Cabeza de Lagarto, Loma Saavedra, Cucharola, among others, where remains of ancient human settlements and ceramic pieces can be found.
